Soft Top Removal 92' Wrangler

Hello all.... Ok, so I tried the search engine but I dont know why i am not getting any results but a blank page, But my question is:

What is the proper way to remove the soft top off of a 92 wrangler? I seem to remember years ago when I owned my first wrangler (92 also) that there was a track where you can open the top slightly and as much as needed instead of taking the entire thing off. Unfortunately this jeep does not have a track to do that. Wonder why?
So I have been removing the side rear windows in order to get the top to retract. Is this correct? I thought it would retract without the removal of the windows. And where is the top susposed to sit once retracted. Thanks in advance - Lorin

I roll up my rear. Unzip both sides, roll them in a blanket and fold back top. You might be able to not remove sides but it will scratch the heck out of them as you drive.

When you put the top down do you use a bungee cord to keep it rolled up?

Do you tie down the rails.... these are all the things I'm researching too

I have a smitty too - this is what I did tonight, was a bit sloppy but worked
-Took side windows off and rolled them up
-Rolled up Rear window and snapped them
-Put the top down and just pushed everything in the tub
-Tied down the rails

Pretty ghetto and I'm sure there is a better way but I'm as green as they come

I took the windows out... Rolled up the rear window. Then I folded the rear corners up onto the top then folded the front of top back and tried to follow the hardware and guided it back but I just couldn't keep it all nice and neat... It was a mess!

I roll up rear window, remove side windows and fold top back and down.
I have two factory hold-down straps ( one each side) that secures top/frame by attatching under rail that holds bottom of side windows

You will see hold down strap about halfway

You can get reproductions on line for a small price Google is your friend. Got one for an 89 no problem. Subject comes up from time to time so it is out there.

How do you roll up the rear window? Do you unzip it completely or keep it zippered at the top?

Leave the top of the rear window zipped, unzip the sides of it. Roll it up and you should have two loops at the top that can snap to hold it up.

For the manual, I searched '95 Jeep Wrangler owners manual on ebay, and found a repro of the orignal manual. My wife laughs because I read manuals cover to cover. A jeep is pretty basic so not much info you couldnt figure out yourself but its nice to have.

I still don't understand........the loops are on the inside of the back window. When the window is rolled up and still zipped at the top, how do the loops go around the rolled up window?
