soundbar vs. sound pods

thinking of getting some new sound for my YJ, right now there are just 2 6x9 box speakers in the back and they sound ok but can't hear them when driving. I am trying to decide if I should get a soundbar with 6 speakers or will a soundbar with a 2 speaker setup be just fine. Also should I get a pair of sound pods insead of the soundbar, does anyone have a preference themselves?

With the YJ being a little more noisy you can always get the 6 speaker bar.

thats what I was thinking and its never a bad thing to have to much of something. I drive it mainly with the top off so the wind and the noise from the jeep itself can block a lot.

i like the pods better. it has nothing to do with function, i just like the look of them better. which ever one you get, make sure it has a good set of speakers in it, a good set will improve sound quality

what do you recommend, send me a link to one so I will have a good idea of what to look for. I found some VDP's sound bars and sound pods, I'm leaning more towards the sound pods because I like the look better myself.

I have the vdp 6 speaker and honestly its not all that its cracked up to be. It sounds like the base model sound in my 03 suburban. If I could remake this purchase i would do the following.

1.Buy an empty 2 speaker soundbar
2.Buy these speakers because they are water resistant and they have crossovers
3.Put decent 4x6's in the dash
if you have any questions just ask

what if I got an empty sound bar or empty sound pods and put those crutchfields in there and did not do the in dash setup would that still be better than the VDP 6 speaker setup?

yes it would still sound alot better than the six speaker setup because its not really six speakers. it is two 6 1/2 inch speakers 2 2 inch mids and 2 1 inch tweeters.

It would sound alot better than the six speaker soundbar. I am against the sound pods that go behind the seats because they tend to get crushed if you slide the seat too far back. if you are talking about the center pod that goes where the shiftr is or the sky pod that hangs from above i would not get either of those instead of the sound bar because at high speeds you want the sound near your ears.

and no you dont have to do the front 4x6's yet do them when you feel like them or have the money to do so . i am waiting to do mine,i wasnt going to do any but then some one told that at concerts they dont have the sound coming from behind you it is aimed directly at you. however with the amount of power those speakers in the soundbar will be outputting it will just make it have the complete sound from front and back for you to hear at low speeds.

so to sum it up......

buy the empty soundbar and the polks from crutchfield
and do 4x6's(good ones) when you feel like it

i installed some polks 6.5 speaker on my sound bar and added a amp (kicker) and it sound really good. check with crushfield, chat with one of the adviser, tell them what ur looking for and which head unit you have and they'll recomend what would be the best match.
they are more expensive than other but they know what theyre talking about. i bought my amp from them because they help me, but i got the speakers from amazon as it was more than $20 cheaper.
