Speedo Cable Help!!!

Alright peeps.

Here's the issue I'm having. I've ordered 2 speedo cables for a 90 yj with no cruise control. Neither one has worked for me. Length is good. it plugs into the speedometer housing with no problems. Also threads into the transfer case with no problems. Here is the problem. Neither end on both cables will slide into 3 different speedo gears to fit into the gear housing in the case. What the hell is wrong with this? All 3 gears work with my old cable. I called quadrashit and all they did was ship me the replacement which was useless. Has anyone had any issues with anything like this or should I just go strap on a helmet and ram into a brick wall with my head? Looks like a manufacturing defect to me but 2 cables? Any help would be appreciated.

So apparently the manufacturing date supposedly determines weather u get a regular speedo cable or one for cruise control. Regardless of weather you actually have cruise. They're overnighting me a different cable. Fingers crossed this works. All I can figure is the np207 used a diff cable from 87-89 and 90 all used cruise on the np231. Makes sense. In theory.
