Speedometer doesn't work...HELP

I recently replaced my transmission and transfercase in my 1990 YJ 4.2L 5 speed. It doesn't roll over and doesn't seem to register at all. I've yet to take a look at it but I'm at work and will look when I get the chance and I thought I'd ask you guys. Anything would help please.

The speedo gear indexes in the hole differently for different gear sizes. You may have it in there wrong and the gears aren't meshing.

yea, check the speed gear on the driver side of the transfer, the stem could be broken inside, happened to me too.

Would it be due to the fact that there is no rear driveshaft installed?

LOL I just got a ticket because I replaced the trans/transfer case and didn't put in the right speedo gear.
