Speedometer Problems

Hey everyone,
My speedometer on my 1992 wrangler doesn't work, neither does my odometer. I was hoping maybe someone could help me out. Thanks

Hello,
I was having the same problem, I tried to buy a new speedo gear, this is inside the transfer case on the drivers side. There is a 1/2 bolt holding it in. Sometimes the gear wears out. I tried finding a new one, but I could not get what I needed anywhere. The dealer wanted a $100+ for it. One day it started working and has been for 2 weeks now. I also noticed my engines idles great now, it used to drop at a stop to about 300-400rpms then would be fine. I am thinking I may have an electrical problem somewhere.
I know this doesn't help much.
Chris

look hard and long for the speedo gear. match the number on the gear to tire size. pay no more than $20.00. my 94 renegade had the same problem when i bought it. it was all in how the gear had been mispositioned in the t-case.

Do you have the electrical or mechanical gear if you have an electrical I can send you mine of my t-case that I have in my jeep now. I need to swap it back to the mechanical.
