Spring over?

Thinking about doing a soa on my yj, is there anything I should know?

What are the downsides of doing this vs a regular lift

I have been wondering the same thing. that step by step thread is great. someone told me that you should install arms/brackets on rear axle for strength. not sure if its needed with my 2.5. correct me if im wrong

yes.. is about axle wrap not power.. a traction bar/ladder bar is a good idea with a SOA lift.

Very expensive lift if done the right way. I love mine, I can't wait to get the driveshaft and sye in so I can actually drive it.

Yes if you do the soa with all the works it can be very pricy. My yj sat a long time because I needed the Sye and drive line.

My set up consisted of 3" lift spring on top of axle, hi steer, sye, cv drive line, brake lines, shocks.
It performed great. But it cost me more than the jeep did in the first place.
Would I do it again? Yes. But after axle swaps.

I'm waitin on my driveline now. I'm runnin soa plus 2.5 inch springs gonna do sye and cv shaft. Switched to crossover steering f-350 shocks I also added a hijack lift tube fenders 35's and rims to the build

Its the only way to get more than 4" of lift without sacrificing ride quality. Anythin over 4" requires most of what is needed for a soa anyway.

Done right, its the best there is.

87 yj 2.5l soa, 7 pack waggy springs, 8.8 rear, 4.10 gears, homemade sye with xj shaft, crossover steering. 100% junkyard or made by myself.

I've been wondering too and I know I'd need a SYE and cv shaft. I'm on a 2.5 now with a 3 inch body. I found this kit/setup that I'd probably use to get me started. http://www.rocky-road.com/yj-soa.html
