So, my 92 is already at 4 inches of suspension, 2 inches of body and 2" shackles (not currently on it) and my buddies are all telling me to go spring over. Aside from raising it up, what would the benefit/drawbacks be? I don't need more room unless I go with bigger tires and I think the 35's are fine. This isn't going to give me more ground clearance without bigger tires so I'm not sure of the point.
Well it could ride much smoother and give you a close to factory ride over the 4" springs. But its a lot of work if you are happy with the current ride/feel you have now.
The ONLY benefit I see is you won't have anything to get hung up on minus the ubolts (assuming you relocate the shock mounts) but I'm 100% in agreement with Drednot's post
There is still debate on this issue. I still think a SOA is a great way to lift a jeep if done properly. Here is a excerpt from an article I've referred to many, many times. I'll post the link at the end of this but here is the reason I am a SOA guy...
the biggest advantage to doing a spring-over is the ability to run a flat leaf spring. You can get nearly equal compression and droop from a flat spring, allowing for a cush ride and some impressive wheel travel from a modest lift height.
Now with this, I do have 1.5" springs on top of the SOA that I am seriously thinking of removing and taking the time to set the suspension up a little better since even with the approximate 7" of lift, I tend to grab the fenders a little too often
