Starting and Transmission Problems

I just bought a 1990 Jeep Wrangler with some issues most of which I have taken care of. I am having problems starting it now. It grinds and shakes. Sounds like the starter is bad but it looks like they put a new one on. I have also had a problem downshifting from 5th, 4th and 3rd. Grinds or refuses to shift. Double clutching helped some shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Thinks it's the trans? And needs to be rebuilt? And even the starter.

You may have a bad or leaking slave cylinder or a worn out clutch. Does pedal feel mushy? Is clutch fluid full? Sounds like its not disengaging.

This is the same problem I'm starting to have with my 89. Just got the clutch kit and master cylinder. Time for a new clutch. Make sure you get a kit with all of the components. Disk, bearings, internal slave. You might also need the clutch master cylinder.
