Starting Issues on YJ

Ok I have a 93 YJ that is have an electical issues. Whenever you turn the key to start nothing happens.....nothing except dashlights are working radio, headlights, turn signals, heater fan ect. Nothing the starter doesn't spin, click nothing. Ok here is where I am at I checked everything all fuses, relays, wires and connections, grounds. Ok so tried tapping the stater and tried again nothing. Checked Voltage a starter and have voltage. Its is a new starter or reman not sure. when I got it the starter, waterpump, radiator and new head had be replaced. That how I got it the.shop that did the work because it was there because of a blown head gasket...the owner never returned. 8 Months.so I tried using my remote starter switch hooked it to starter and hit switch and what you know she cranked.....????? So I turned it off with key and tried with key right after and it cranked....strange huh....so I replaced battery and ends anyway just because.....I have had no issues for.2 Weeks until today same issues same . I am thinking it might be starter solenoid....not sure and suggestion will be great....Thanks in advance.

My 87 acted identical after changing the battery. Problem was the starter solenoid mounted on the firewall near the battery. Coincidence? I don't know but that fixed the problem. Give it a look and if you're lucky it is a cheap fix.

It may not be a bad solenoid. I had a very similar problem. Just wouldn't crank 95% of the time. I was able to jump the starter with a screw driver every time. Try that. If that works consistently, you have a bad wire between the solenoid and the ignition switch, or the switch is bad itself.

To jump the starter, turn key to on position. Then you need to touch two terminals located on the solenoid together with your screwdriver. One terminal is a wire from the battery/fuse panel, the other terminal is power to the starter.

Check big fuse (40 amp) in power distribution center (close to battery).

Thanks for all the input......I found the problem bad starter solenoid .I had checked and traced all possibility. And ended up being bad starter....order one and the E sockets on 24th came in 26th..it had a reman one on it looked new but who knows the guy I got it from said it was new. So got a OEM replacement with shim packs with lifetime warranty listed $189 (my cost$48) with $20 core. A package of E sockets $8.99 . All good now thanks for all the input..I have seen treads on here that people have issues and never come back to follow up to let everyone know what the problem was and if they got it fixed.....I didn't want to be that guy....
