steering gear box removal...

Replacing my steering box on my 95 there a trick to getting the hoses disconnected.....the look really hard to get to.

I was able to squeeze my hand and a wrench in between the grill and radiator. Very tight but doable.

Its easier to unhook the lines from the power steering pump, Take the steering shaft off and the pitman arm. and drop the steering box out with the lines still connected.

Then take them off with a quality line wrench after its out of the frame.
'87 YJ, 4.2L built and bored, 8.5" of lift, 8.8 rear, AX15/NP 231, Tom Woods drive shafts, Flat fenders, 12,000LB winch, Custom bumpers, Rattle can paint job. Never completed...

Its a pita but you can get to the lines by taking the parking light out and squeezing in through that opening. I lost a little skin replacing one of my lines that way. If you are replacing the whole steering box I would just drop it the way that OIIIOfor life suggested.
