Probably the rag joints in your lower steering shaft. That's the part between the steering column and the steering box.

Mine was bad when I bought my jeep. Put a Borgeson Heavy Duty shaft to replace it. Autoplicity.com had the cheapest price when I was shopping.

To install I had to grind a flat on the input shaft of the steering box and drill a hole on the output of steering shaft. Took about an hour and a half start to finish.

Well worth the trouble. Tightened my steering right up.

Good luck!

No, read what the man said. You can also buy a stock replacement for cheap.

Jag Joint, slang for the flex coupling on the steering shaft.

Not steering column. You need a new lower steering shaft. (More than likely anyway).

With the engine off. Have a friend turn the wheel a little bit each way. You will see the steering shaft rotate. If there is any play in the universal joints then it's your steering shaft.

If you got 6" of play in the wheel you got a few more worn out parts. Get someone to move the wheel back and forth and watch the tie rod ends. If your lifted you probably got a good bit of roll. Look at the drag link also.

Lower steering column bearing shake where the intermediate shaft hooks on there is a lower bearing in there

I could go on you need to do a real good shakedown and figure out what's us really bad and make a plan.

I just replaced everything it was all beat. Steers great now.

Seems like its coming from my steering box. Everything moves tight until after the box.

Check this thread out. If this doesn't do it, then look towards the steering as Jokerchief said.
