stock axles with lockers?

I have a stock 94 yj. Thinking of a 4.5 re xd lift with 33 inch tires and lockers in rear. Any advise would be helpfull. I would like to be able to wait a while before upgrading axles. When i eventualy do i would like to add more lift with 35 inch tires. Thanks.

If you have a D35 Do not lock it unless u get a super 35 kit.. For 33 inch tires have u regeared yet or plan on it? I would save for the upgraded axle even for 33's and locked.. As locking your D35 is almost certain fail and spending the money to replace the gears and/or installing a locker on it is pointless as "It's not if it will fail, It's when"..

Well I'm pretty much alone on this side of the issue, but I have done 5 jeeps in the past 14 years with a detroit in the back and have had zero issues. The main thing to remember is don't try something that you know your jeep is not capable of and you will be fine.....and nothing larger than a 33" tire

If you want to go to 35" tires eventually I wouldn't bother with locking the D35. I'd start searching for a swap axle.

The D30 will handle a locker much better (especially if you still have the CAD), and will take 35" tires just fine.

The jeep I have now is the only jeep that didn't have a D35 and all of the ones I had before were locked and had 33's with no problems at all, I didn't baby it but didn't act like an idiot either, at least not to much of one anyway lol

My buddy has been running a d35 of 35's for 3 years with a 4.0 locked. Never broken a rear shaft.

Has taken out alot of the 260 join shafts, until he finally went one piece with 297 joints

My d35 is locked and trussed, ive only had it out once but I beat on it pretty godo with no failure yet.

But dotn get me wrong an 8.8 is in my future becuase I need to regrear and a 4.10 disc 8.8 is $100 at the local yard, so it makes more sense.
