Hello! I was curious to see if anyone can tell me if you can install 4" lift shocks (from a used RC Lift Kit) on a stock suspension YJ 4x4 Sahara 4.0L. I saw them at a local yard sale but didnt buy them because I was not sure they would help.
My YJ is stock, and the previous owner never off roaded the Jeep, it was strictly a street/daily driver. I have 31/10.5/15 on it now and the rear fenders scrape with only 2 people riding, over harsh bumps, would the "lift" shocks help?? or just replace the stock shocks?
I dont want to convert leaf's, this is a daily driver/light trail rig.
31's with no lift? you must have a body lift or oversized shackles. Either way sounds like your springs are weak and ready to be replaced. Shocks do not give any lift they are for absorbing the movement of the suspension, dampening of the motion of the unsprung weight. pics of your jeep would be great in helping you. Welcome to the forum.

Grown men should NOT be on Facebook.
my buddy has a completely stock yj with 31s.. his tires do get into hes flares on occasion but then again.. he paid 600 for the jeep and has put about another 300 into it.. so he doesnt care too much
the first time i read this i thought you meant leaf packs from a rc lift..
STAY AWAY FROM RC SHOCKS!!!!
spend the coin and get something that rides nicer, especially if its your dd..
OME, RE, Bilstein... just a couple brands that come to my mind when i think of shocks that ID actually buy for my jeep..
trust me ive spent the money on a cheap 2'' lift kit with procomp 3000es shocks.. which are similar to the RC shocks, and they suck.. i ended up forking out 300 bucks for a new set of shocks within the month

Yup, 31's on a stock YJ, no body lift & with Dick Cepek Rims w/ 4 inch backspace, plus the suspension is still pretty stiff, this YJ was not beat up through its life, I got lucky finding it. I'll upload some pics later today. But thanks for the advice, I guess its time to replace some suspension parts, I prob will wait till summer and see what happens. I have only "trailed" lightly so far, so I may just deal with it. Might be cheaper to replace the stock flares every so often, lol.
Thanks!! She is a work in progress, lol. I will look into the body and shackle lifts too. Actually I had no idea there were that many clubs in Maryland also.
Here is another updated pic, those old lights were not cutting it for me, so I upgraded all 4 with Hella's, now I get the headlight flash at night sometimes.
