Stuck shackle problems

Went wheeling sunday and for the second trip in a row my shackle got stuck against the frame. Last time it was a pain in the ass to get back to normal. Also because of it my springs look like they are separating from eachother. Should that worry me? I will get better pictures tomorrow

What's the best way to keep the shackles from getting stuck, bump stops?

Boomerang or tow shackles can help prevent it from happening. I know I've heard about people bending their springs because of shackle inversion. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in

what springs u running,,r ur shackle bolts tourqed properly,,

i have had it happen,,,a couple times myself

Definately make sure bolts are adjusted to proper torque spec. Boomerang shackles will be best to prevent it from happening any more.

I also had this happen. I jacked the front up and took a big crowbar and popped it back out. I am replacing with Daystar Super shackle.

I'll look into boomerang shackles. I'm not sure if they are torqued to spec but I doubt it. Thanks

The "factory spec" for shackles is something around 90#. But a lot of people here (including myself) recommend torquing them to around 45-50# to ensure they don't get stiff. And greasable bolts/bushings can help that too

I just did poly bushings and boom shackles with grease bolts I love the ride so far. I don't wheel but we flexed it out and I can see how they will help. They should also prevent inversion.

Where did you guys buy your boomerang shackles from? For some reason I could only find lift shackles. I want to keep stock height shackles

Mine were half in lift of eBay. I think Moore has stock height or 5/8".

they sell leaf springs a piece on extreme terrain.

that's why it's beter to run BDS springs with a military wrap.

Last time I got the shackle unstuck the springs went sort of back into place. Is there anything I can do to clamp them together to get a bit more life out of them? Or am I just in for replacing or risking them snapping?

I was thinking about doing rough country's 4.5 military wrap lift in a year or so, was hopping on using my car funds on my Camaro before fixing my jeep AGAIN

If they keep getting stuck something is wrong. You should look at the metal sleeve in the rubber bushings. Are they too wide or are the shackles so tight they bind.
