suspension lift or just add-a-leaf?

I'm wanting to go 3-4 inches and I've heard mixed stories about add-a-leaf lifts. What I'm wondering is if the AAL lift really does what it says it does for the price or should I just go ahead and pay the big money on a suspension lift.

I had worn out stock springs on my 89 and wanted a cheap way to get some clearance back. I installed the 1/2 length AAL kit from Ebay. It gave me 1 1/2 or lift back as promised but the ride is not very good, and the work to install is just as much as if you added a full kit, so in hind-site, I would have done the full kit. The install took me about 8 hrs to do (I was all by myself) and I had to cut the spring alignment retainers off on the back to get them installed, but that isn't a big deal....

A full suspension lift is always the way to go. Besides I have never heard of getting 3-4 inches from add-a-leafs. They would have to be a super arched spring to make a stock spring pack lift that amount. So your rough riding YJ will now have the same ride as a buckboard.

I'm a relatively new jeeper, but I've been an offroader my whole life. The most I can go with a lift is 4 inches right, with lowering the transfer case. Anymore than that I'll have to get into changing drive shafts and crap. Aka AVOID!
