Sway bar end links touch axle on YJ

Okay, guys, I am new here and new to jeeps. Iam somewhat mechanically inclined but I am puzzled with my sway bar end links. I am hoping someone can help me with it. I recently bought a '95 YJ. It has a 2.5" shackle lift that was installed by the previous owner. Would not have been my choice, but it is what it is. Anyway, I replaced the shocks and steering stabilizer over the weekend and noticed that the end links touch the axle where the shock mounts are. I know this isn't right but what I can'f figure out is what is causing it. The sway bar isn't perfectly horizontal but it isn't pointing way down either. The track bars are still connected as well. I know the end links need bushing in a bad way, but I want to fix the touching issue when I replace the bushings. Has anyone had an experience like this? Suggestions?

are you sure on the shackle lift? a 2 1/2" lift would be 9" bolt hole to bolt hole, way way to much and probably whats causing your problem. my sway bar links clear by 1/2" with 5/8" boomerang shackles.

The previous own said it was a 2 1/2" lift. The shackles are just straight, not boomerang. I will get pictures and measurements today.

Measure them from bolt to bolt. Stock is 4" and every +2" gives you 1" of lift.

JD95YJ, is correct. Your shackles should stick out considerably if they are 2.5 inch lift shackles. Get us some pics of the leaf springs while you are taking pics of the shackles. There's a good chance you have a spring lift.

The shackles are pretty long and stick out. I am heading home shortly and will get the pics posted.

Ok, the shackles are 8" long, so that's 2" of lift, correct? Also, the end links are not touching when it is sitting still, but they are very close you can see where they have been rubbing the shock brackets. I am trying to figure out how to post the pics from an iPad. Soon as I do, I will post them.
