t-case issue np231c and np231j

need help. started a chevy 406 swap in my 90 YJ. The pulleys are too close to the radiator. engine and transmission need to be pulled back about 4". Is there a way to shorten the np231c on the chevy 700r4 tranny? i have checked Novak and they have a kit that will shorten an np231j 4", but in order for me to switch to the jeep t-case i will need to buy a $500 adapter plus new t-case. Is there an easier way to do this? or is there any kit or other t-case i can use on the 700r4 that will shorten it up a few inches?

Can you just move it back and adjust the drive shaft lengths to work with the new location? Should be a lot cheaper than an adapter and T-case. change.

My drive shaft is 15-3/8" long. I don't think a shorter driveshaft would be wise with that much power?
