Temp gauge

Today I was looking into why my temp gauge wasn't reading at all(stayed all the way left). So, I replaced the temp sensor and now even when the engine is cold it reads above 260 or all the way right. Anybody have a solution how to solve the problem? Thanks

You may have a faulty new sensor. What brand is it?

Which temp sensor did you replace? There is a coolant temp sensor (one that talks to the ECM), and then there is a coolant gauge sending unit sensor (one that relays the data to the gauge). Either of them can give you a faulty gauge reading.
