Question Temp Gauge Help

So I've been looking in some forums for temp gauge help and i think ive come down to a few things...

My first question is is this the temp gauge sending unit?
Attachment 112780

Second if that is the sending unit is this the plug... if not what is this?
Attachment 112781

And third and a little off topic does my engine look good from what you can see and could it use anything?
Attachment 112782

Thanks in advanced!

Is this a test?

You have an '87-'90 temp sending unit and a '91-up temp connector wire. You also seem to have an '87-'90 valve cover/ PCV/ crankcase breather.

What's up with that?

Assuming he put an '87-90 block in and just didn't get around to changing the temp sender that's a simple fix. Replace the sender with a '94 style and plug it in. The valve cover should be fine as long as that breather in the rear doesn't spew oil like mine used to...and the grommet for those is hard to find.

Anything else not working besides temp gauge?

So this should be the part to fix it?

and im trying to think... everything else is fine I think other than i did notice in a few videos some jeeps have the buzzers to tell you to put your seat belt on... i don't, where is the wiring on that? Tune up kit coming tomorrow. Hopfully that smooths out the engine and hopefully the kit fits now that you said that.... :X

That's the one. Everything else looks good, I'm guessing the '94 valve cover and temp sender were screwed up when they did the swap so they just left those on the block.

I am curious about the cable that's crossing over the top of your oil fill hole in the picture. Can't tell where it's going.

Looks like the throttle cable

One issue you might have is the oil filter if it's an early block. Go online to autozone or advance or similar stores and compare part numbers for '88 and '94 filters. If they are the same you're good, if not you'll probably need the older one.

The distributor should be the new style with the coil mounted just behind it so your new wires/ cap/ rotor should be OK.

I see two cables in the pic, one coming from near the MAP sensor (green colored) on the firewall and the other looped in front of the power steering pump. One is throttle cable, the other I'm not sure.

Oh, yeah....multi port fuel injected (MPFI), just like you should be in a '94. Other than the oil filter you shouldn't have (m)any issues, the 2.5L blocks are essentially the same from '87 to '95.
