temp gauge not working

i have a 94 yj . the temp gauge will move while running but wont go up to were it should ( about 185) it stays around 100 . i have replaced the gauge cluster and the temp senor on the thermastat housin . i went with a after market gauge for awhile ,whiched worked great. i just thought that i would try to fix the factory gage. any ideas??

most temp sensor work on a simple thermister which has a lower resistance at higher temps. since yours isnt getting to temp it sounds like you have high resistance in the wiring or the sensor isnt grounded well. check resistance between sensor wire and gauge.

YJ cluster's are notorious for going bad. Too many nights with the top down=condensation which= corrosion. Could be what dooder said, could be the gauge takin a dump.

i bought the cluster off of ebay, and is differant than the first one , nothing changed as far as what it does that didnt change .are u sayin to clean some tabs , is there anything else involved . i can go threw and check grounds .

i have had the jeep for about 7yrs . when i bought it it did the same thing that it is doin now , so then i went with an after market for awhile . then i thought i would try to fix it . so i bought a cluster and a temp sensor didnt change anything. i dont type whele sorry for the first post
