Post the squeel mobile..yea that bad

i have a 94 2.5l 5spd yj. on start up she squeels like a pig. its so damn annoying. im on my 2nd belt 2nd alternator... whats next psp bearing mabey? i thought for sure it was the alternator b cuz its also over charging (reading high). any thoughs on the high reading would help too guys! i have tried everything lots works but all just temporary... fyi white gritty toothpaste was the best LMAO no joke it worked tyavm!!

First thought is the belt is not tight enough, serpentine belts have to be tight. Next make sure ALL of the pulleys are in line. If the engine was ever worked on the crank pulley might not be in line with the rest. Next make sure the idler pulley is good. Mine made a noise yet appeared fine. Clean all pulleys with brake cleaner and scotch pad, make sure belt is clean too.
On yours the computer regulates the alternator output unless the wrong alternator has been installed.

yep pretty sure imma jackass...so i never saw the tensioner...on the psp..i thought when i put the new belt on via alternator i had to pull it good to get the bottom bolt in assumed it was the "jeep tensioner". as for the squeeling stopping once it reads 14v is a mystery to me! well i have a new alt and imma go play with ma jeep tyvvm garyk! wrangler forum FTW!

mine did the same, tried everything to get it to stop..... sprayed silicone lubricant on the belt while it was running...... been squeal free ever since

tyvm guys everyone was great help! tuned out to be a combination of bad alternater bearing and a little loose. so i now have a new alternater.. it is reading high just in the red.. was the same before is that common?

It stopped squealing when the gauge hit around 14 as the load on the alternator dropped off. My 94 2.5 used to read about 14.5 when the battery was down...really don't know how accurate those gauges are either.
