timing question on 90 2.5l...is this about right?

Point me in the direction of the containing thread...ive been lookin but havent found it....just want to know if this sounds right or needs adjustment...runs pretty smooth and sounds ok to me but first time listening to a 2.5

Idle RPMs 900
At idle mark lines up at about 12 on the scale
At 1600 RPMs its at about 18 on the scale

You cant adjust the timing on that motor, the distributor is keyed, only allows movement about 2*.

If you really want to change the timing, try slotting the crank sensor mount holes and move it, chances are, you will only get 2-3* out of that too....

Not looking to change it...just wanted to confirm its within normal range

It cant be out of normal range, unless someone did what I mentioned above, or the flywheel reluctor ring somehow moves independent of the flywheel....

Basically, its where it should be, or it wont run (unless someone has tried to mod it...)

Awesome, sorry to be redundant, but if i need to replace the whole dizzy, all i have to do is line up the rotors?

Yep, just put the new one in the same as the old came out, all it does is send the spark to the right plug. The timing comes from the crank sensor.
