TJ np 231 swaped into a yj

i want to swap a 1998 np 231 into a 1994 yj. what would i have to do to make this work? the splines are the same the only thing different is the vacum correct? whats up with that?

I think you are correct. You can bye pass the vacuum, by:1. fixing the internal arm in the locked position. 2. 4x4 posi lock 3. replace two section shaft with a 1pc from a xj or tj, however with this you also have to replace some inner seals in the axle.

well i mean the transfer case is the transfer case it has nothing to do with teh vacuum line correct? the vacuum line only deals with the front axle engaging and de-engaging the 4x4. There has to be a away if the vacuum lines worked before to make them work again. Does anyone know what the vacuum sensor/regulator thing do on the actual transfercase itsself?

couldnt i just use the vacuum switch off my old transmission and let it just be there? does it need to be installed in the transfercase?

to work it does. detent on the bottom opens and closes switch. easy fix leave it off and go posi locker. or look to see if the tj 231 might have a plug where that switch goes, but not likely.
