top end still noisy after new lifters and oil pump
Mechanic said the brackets that hold rockers were bent? I do not understand why he would not replace them or even let me know. Could this be the source of top end noise? What are these brackets called, and where's the best place to get them? I will put these on myself, as long as there are no special skills involved. Thank you, Randy

First things first, Engine, year, and what kind of top end noise? Usually the lifters are the main culprit in noise, but the rockers, valves, or brackets can make a very precise different noises. Also, I've had friends who add seafoam, marvel mystery oil, or an oil stabilizer like bars engine repair with good results. Just know if your engine is very sludgy, you might have to tear it down if the sludge is removed by the seafoam and etc...

have you added any oil thickeners such as lucas? and do you run anything thicker than a 5w-20? If so, the oil is not getting to the top of the engine fast enough for the hungry lifters.
Not saying nothing is loose, just saying you'll want to run the thinner oil to decrease the chatter. Most people think right out of the gate that oil treatements will help, when in turn they make it worse by thickening the oil to a point where the pump won't move it fast enough to the top end.
Did you do the work or did the mechanic? Whoever did it the push rods should have been put back in, in the same spot. You need to keep track of them when removed and put them back in the same spot. A loose or deformed rocker bracket may be the cause of the noise. Pull the valve cover and see what they look like. Keep us posted.
