Exclamation tranny conversion problem

Alright guys,...I thought I was converting from a peugeot to an ax15 but now that we get the old tanny out it is the ax15. Anyways, my problem is we have all new parts(clutch kit, master cyl, slave cyl) installed and when we try to put it into a gear it won't go into gear...it just grinds. there is a little play in the clutch...could it be air in the lines??? My mechanic is about to give up on the project cuz he can't figure it out. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
