Trans issue

I'll start up the jeep and when its cold there is a wicked intermittent grinding coming from the transmissions. But once its all warmed up it stops. I was gonna do the easy steps first like change out the fluid and the filter. What could be the issue?

what about if its in gear and clutch pushed in? does it make the noise then? do you feel the grinding in the clutch pedal? throw out bearing is what i would hope to be the noise. a tranny flush wouldn't hurt any but if it doesn't stop then you will most likely have to drop the tranny anyway cause it's either that or the throw out bearing.

Auto, or manual? Autos don't usually make a lot of noise unless you get a pump/converter going bad.

Manuals can rattle a LOT depending on what's bad. So can the cat converter which is right next to the trans....

ok well check it out. have someone start the jeep while your under it. of course make sure its in park and brake set and it would prolly be easier to have the skid plate off to be able to get closer to the cat

Okay so I figured out the rattle it was an exhaust line rattling but I have a wicked leak. I do have the automatic and it looks like its leaking from the shifting leakage area? Any ideas on how to fix it.
