Transmission fill/check question

Hey, newbie here. I just got a 88 Wrangler 4 cylinder 5speed.

I am checking all the fluids and on the transmission, I'm trying to see where the fill check hole is.

Is it the one I have removed in the pic? The oil level is quite low from that point (but the tranny is kinda wet). About 1 inch or so. What is the quantity if I drain and fill?

here's why i'm, confused.

one website says this is the filler/check hole:

and another says this is the filler hole:

Clearly, one is about 1 inch above the other. That makes a huge difference in how much tranny fluid to put in there. I have a Haynes manual, but the pic is not a clear or at a good angle to really see.

OK, checked the original Owners Manual, and the drawing shows the check hole at slightly just below the horizontal centerline of the transmission. So I'm guessing it's the hole I have removed the bolt from. In the second pic in my second posting, it looks as though that hole is not even tapped and in the Haynes manual, it looks as though there is a sensor or switch in that position. So, possibly in my tranny and in the tranny in the first pic of my second posting, that must be a block off bolt for a sensor of some kind.

I just didn't want to overfill the thing.....

You're correct in your last post. Fill until fluid starts running back on you from the hole. Quickly screw the bolt back in, then wipe up the mess.
