Tune up kits / ignition upgrade

Hey guys, some of yall know i'm in the midst of a complete teardown and rebuild. im going to get a new cap / rotor / plugs / wires for the rebuilt engine. Any brands i should try to get or definitely stay away from. Anyone know of a good place to order a good kit? Price is important, but not looking for cheap quality. I'll pay more for a better kit.

also, are there any ignition upgrades i should do instead of going back stock? I've found an MSD kit but its just over $400 bucks. i'm not spending that much for minimal gains.

TIA

I purchased a Screamin Demon super coil, live wires, rotor and cap in a kit. It
runs a much hotter spark then stock. You have to upgrade the wires to
withstand the extra heat. You end up gaping your plugs from .035 to a wider
gap of .065 -to-.080 range. The complete kit is sold by Quadratech for 189.99.
I did notice some nice gains including a faster throttle response and smoother idol.

I got the Accel Super Truck kit from Advance Auto, it was around $60, and included plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Nice little kit, didnt notice any huge gains, but it did the job.

I put MSD wires on and that alone smoothed out my idle. Check the OHM resistance of the wires you're looking at, MSD has about the least resistance.

Pulled my plugs today and one pretty much had no gap and the others were a proper but pretty much toasted. Changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and it breathed new life in the 2.5. Now I might get more than 14 mpg... Not really sure what a hotter coil will accomplish.

I use the Taylor 10MM wires, they come in a universal kit that you have to put together but well worth the money, you would need the ratchet crimper for them to use. I've used Taylor in all my race cars as well and very durable and reliable.
