Unable to drive in H2, H4

Good Afternoon:

I DID do a search and found nothing for this. I have a 93 YJ and cannot get the darn thing to drive in H4, H2. It WILL drive in L4 only and it "feels" like it's in L4. When in H4 or H2, after letting out the clutch, the rig will not move forward or backward. L4 is the only gear that works from the transfer case. What should I trouble shoot? I have extensive knowledge with mechanics so that is not an issue. If someone can tell me what to check next I will understand the "lingo". I have all the tools but just want to make sure I shouldn't replace the transfer case right away if that is not it. Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it.

Before you pull the case, I would check to see if the linkage is all tight and working correctly. You can also pull the linkage off and manually shift the case to the other gears with a small crescent wrench. MAKE SURE THE TIRES ARE BLOCKED SO YOU DO NOT RUN YOURSELF OVER DOING THIS!!!!!! If you can't seem to get it to drive that way, I would pull the case apart and check for broken gear teeth or bent shift forks. Very easy case to pull apart. It would probably be cheaper putting a used case in, instead of fixing yours though. Good Luck.

Here is an exploded view of the case, might help you diagnose it.
