Universal Joint and DriveShaft Repair

Alright, I was out doing some moderate rockin the other day around the house and I shredded the rear universal joint, split half of half the yoke going into the rear pinion gear.

I have already taken apart the driveshaft and put a new yoke and universal joint back together.

I read through the Haynes Manual and it basically says to put it back together like I took it apart.

Any pointers from the experts and am I missing anything?

Oh, and I have a Skyjacker rear driveshaft. One of the ears on the yoke going to the rear uni joint was bent, so I had to have a driveshaft shop cut this one off, and weld and balance another yoke on it.

so you broke your pinion yoke or broke it on the driveshaft side?

if you're asking how to put the ujoint back on the driveshaft, get a large c clamp. put one round thing in on the outside of the d-shaft. put the ujoint in from the other side, being careful not to displace the needle bearings. put the other cap thing on the other side. then slowly crank down on the c clamp to press them into the driveshaft. i move the ujoint back and forth to keep from binding on the needle bearings (in and out). someone else can probably explain better, im a lousy teacher.

I broke the pinion yoke. I also broke one of the ears on the driveshaft that goes into the u joint which goes into the pinion yoke.

Needless to say, I will conquer that hill one day.
