V6 swap from Dodge Dakota

I am considering swapping a V6 into my 94 YJ w/4 cylinder & 5 speed. I inherited the wrangler from my son who lost interest w/too many toys. I have a Dakota w/V6 & 5 speed that I'd like to drop in a 5.9l w/5 speed. Since the V6 & 5 speed are both in good condition, I was thinking of putting them in the wrangler. I don't want a V8 and also have a 4.3l V6 from an Astro van that I could swap but that has a 700R auto. I have done some research and know that the 4.3 swap is a popular one and kits exist to make it easier. Anyone done a Dakota V6 into a Wrangler? Any ideas, suggestion, advice or direction would be appreciated.

You better make sure that the Dodge tranny will fit your xfer case which should be an NP231.

Swap in the 4.3, a lot better engine. What year dakota is it and which v6 does it have? I've heard a lot of good things about the 3.9, but not so much about the 3.7.

never heard of it but do it! that would be something different. biggest challenge would be gauges and tcase. and if you make yourself a custom dash with aftermarket gauges that would be more awesome, more acurate, and fix that problem.
