Umm, yeah why did they?

What a hunk of crap, almost as much trouble as Chrysler's lean-burn computer connector!

I can remember my neighbor trying to stop his AMC eagle, from leaking out the plastic valve cover gasket. After like six tries, he discovered there was an aluminum one available.

be glad you don't have a 4 banger, i think no one has found an aluminum cover for it, only plastic.

not that it matters here, but every time i've tried to help someone look, only plastic ones for the 4 banger, quadratec and all. hopefully they get one available, but not that long ago, only plastic anywhere.

I got an aluminum one from 4wheel drive hardware. There are a few other places out there selling them. They go for about $100.
