VIN codes for 1990

Just wondering if anyone has the codes to decipher what the VIN numbers/letters mean for 1990. I searched and found 87-88 codes.

My VIN is: 2JFY19EXLJ507028

I think your missing the third character. Your VIN should be 17 long.

I dont know what you're looking for but if you email chrysler and request a build sheet they will give you a list of everything your jeep came with from the factory, all you need to give them is your VIN

Yep missed the 3rd character and sent the correct one to Jeep for the build sheet. 2J4FY19EXLJ507028

I was just trying to find out if it was a base model, Sahara or whatever. What items it came with from the factory etc.

Trying this from my tablet, not sure it'll link right. Chrysler should be able to tell you anything else.

=)

I did use that. Came back with some info. Doesn't say anything about what type of Wrangler it is, so I'm guessing just base model. It does say 20mpg highway tho so that was funny

MSRP $9,393 and the way it sits now, KBB says it's worth about $4,500

Amazing that after 22 years, it's still worth half of what is new. (I know, I know..inflation...cost of living...blah, blah)

Wrangler S (base).

In 1990 there was a base, Islander, Laredo, and Sahara.

And I so wish I could buy a computer free, airbag free, brand new YJ for 10k. So much do I wish this. Sigh.

So BlueRidge, why do you not like airbags?

even the 87-90 YJ's came with a computer, but with a little help from the forums and the right parts you can throw it away. thats what I love about the early YJ's, simplicity.

Because I don't typically go fast enough to need em. At low impact speeds seat belts are plenty, and air bags are just dangerous.
