Wante dto say thanks and have a fuel filter question

Hey Gang and fellow yj owners.

I just wanted to take this time to thank everyone that has assisted me in my yj build so far.

two days ago my 87yj went from running great to suddenly running crappy and I had enough. Yesterday, I did the Nutter Bypass and HOLY CRAP what a difference. Took it for a ride and it ran well. Came home, and started cleaning up my wiring and relooming, etc. Start the Jeep again and dammit, it's running crappy again. I start poking around, and wow it sounds like a vqaccuum leak. I remembered someone here mentioning the EGR valve. Sure enough, I pull the hose off and the engine smooths right out. I plugged the hose to the egr, set the timing to 10 btdc and it ran EXCELLENT. I had a slight amount of ping, so I backed it off to 8 degrees and added a little extra fuel(I'm running a pre-stepper motor carb). Now the Jeep idles smooth and pulls hard. I'm thinking about running something higher than 87 octane too.

Thanks again

Now my question. I've read a few posts about changing the twin outliet fuel filter to a single outlet to prevent fuel starving. Sounds like a great idea, but what do you do with the small return line??? do you just plug it? or does it need to be vented to maintain good flow to the pump???

p.s. motorcraft 2100 is next!
