Past couple of days my trans has been acting a little shakey and now its to the point where it grinds pretty bad going into third and down shifting into second. this is a fairly new transmission so it shouldnt be going out ( bout 2 or 3 years) so just owndering if anyone else has had any problems. thanks!

You didn't say if it's 4 or 6 cyl. motor. The 4 banger has the AX-5 tranny, and this wouldn't surprise me a bit. The synchronizers are going out of your tranny. Not too complicated to put new ones in the tranny.

ya, that ax5 trans is just no good. you can replace parts in it, or upgrade. i'd change it, many people fix those transes or replace them quite frequently. the best thing i've found is getting a bell housing out of a dodge dakota, because it used the ax15 trans, which is stout, and use an ax 15 instead of the ax 5

i went and found the link for a good write up and info, even though it should be stuck since this comes up every few days.

just curious how does your clutch feel? I know these trannys arent the greatest but it sounds like something very sudden like a leaky slave or warped clutch or broken pressure plate. i could be totally wrong but ide look at cheaper solutions first and rule them out before doing a trans conversion.
