umm i would want to say you need quite a bit of things. tuning for one... it doesnt come with any extras and i dont think your alt, water pump, pullys, ac, all sensors and things match up to it... so the engine will bolt up the frame no problem its everything else you'll need... im not sure about the engine harness either...

im not 100% sure on any of this other then the tuning for sure.. maybe everything does bolt up but thats what your looking at

Okay well i wasnt sure on any of this, it really doesnt explain much so i was curious. But do you think this would be a huge step up from the 2.5L?

Yeah you would need every single thing that is not internal. So from oil pan all the way to valve cover. You're better off buying a donor car and ripping out everything in it so you don't have to worry about anything. It's all right there ready to swap out.

You will have to relocate the engine mounts on the frame rails. Your transmission, which should be a AX5, won't work with a 4.0 block. You'll need a AX15 or something else that will bolt up. That's just for starters, I'm not trying to put you off your idea, it's a good one. Just a little more involved than bolting in the new engine.

P.S. Shop around, there are lots of places that build and sell Strokers.

you'll have to modify your engine mounts for one, you'll need an oil pan, oil pan gasket, valve cover, valve cover gasket, thermostat gasket(your 2.5L thermostat and housing will fit on the engine...or should if all it is is a stroked 4.0L) you'll need a distributor, wireset, coil, ecm(i've been told the ecm for the 2.5 will work for the 4.0....but i don't know if thats true or not) you'll need to get an ax15 transmission, your ax5 will not work with this. everything else to my knowledge, unless there's a change in the brackets, WILL bolt up to the front of this engine, they use the same alternator, water pump, i don't know about the power steering, that may be different, it shows different hoses and a pump obviously online looking for parts.

you'll also need everything intake realted, the 2.5 intake isn't large enough for this engine nore do i belive it will bolt up, so you'll have to invest in that as well, will need a fuel rail and an upgraded fuel pump.. i think i covered about everything....oh and exhaust, you'll need headers or the like as well and a larger exhaust pipe all the way back(you'll have to toss whats under it now, the muffler and cat will not work well with this engine)

probably talking another 2-3k in parts you'll need, your better off finding a donor vehicle for most of these if you can find a decent shape 4.0 wrangler or cherokee in the area that has a complete engine

you dont need a ton of HP to make your YJ a good wheeling rig. you need to get the power to the tires. lockers low range gears in the axles and t-case along with sticky tires work just fine
