If thats what you would call it..

Im up in new york, and the seller is in CT, so before i make the trip i just want to make sure this thing is worth buying for $3500? (chewed him down)
I drive an xterra, so this wouldnt be a daily or anything, i wanted to surprise my girlfriend with something for the beach, and weekends in the summer (in which i would use too, LOL) and something for the winter etc.

94 YJ with 190k miles. backseat removed, and a custom half cab hard top type of deal. Doesnt seem to have any major rust, or rust at all from the photos. Only thing is the hard top doesnt come off easily, he said it is riveted in, and would have to take it to a mechanic. Has basic wear and tear interior wise, and no back seat, but for a 94 wrangler, doesnt look bad. What do you guys think? Part of me really wants this, but at the same time.. is it worth it for a beach yj, with a top that doesnt easily come off, with 190k miles etc etc

His description:

Selling my 1994 Jeep Wrangler. I bought this around six months ago from a friend of a friend. Reason I am selling is because I am getting a car from my parents and thats a little smaller and better on gas. 4.0L 6 Cylinder, thing still runs strong for its age. Its in amazing condition, and does not look like a car from 1994. Heard these engines are bulletproof, and could run for a while as long as it is taken care of, which is what I have done. Not much of a car guy, but some of the things I know the car has is:
- 35 inch tires
- rough country lift (4-6 inch lift)
- custom front bumper
- the back seat was taken off and replaces as a bed of a pickup truck
- straight pipe exhaust (so it is loud)
- after market radio
- some running boards and rock guards underneath the car
- interior floor was painted with a rust preventer, and what the back of pickups are sprain with
I know there is other things, but as I said I'm not a car guy. I'll be posting more pics of the interior soon, if they're not up and you want to see, or if you have any questions you could just shoot me a text! My name's Justin, text preferred at anytime.
Looking for $4000, price is not negotiable, KBB has it at $4400 so I am under the value, I just do not have a need for it.

Worth it?!

Only you can decide what's right for you. As long as the frame is rot free (rot as opposed to surface rust) it would be a good deal for me.
Any older vehicle will require more TLC than your Xterra.
The hard tops aren't too difficult to remove if you have a garage or sturdy carport. A hard top lift is $150.00 new. You probably can replace the rivets with sheet metal screws or Nutserts and bolts. If you have any mechanical ability, you won't need a mechanic to remove the hard top.

Seller didn't post pics pf the interior. New inexpensive seats are $100.00 each.

If it is what you want, I would say "Go for it". Unless there is some hidden defect, you should easily get your money back if you don't like it.
I would trade the 35" tires off for 31s. Unless you do serious off roading, you will be happier with the 31s and your engine and axles will thank you.

Let us know what you decide and if you do buy it, post some pics.

Good Luck, L.M.

Cosmetics are easy and affordable. A little at a time. Make sure it's got good 'bones'. It looks like the 4.5" rough country military wrap lift judging by the boom shackles? I kind of like the bed! I seldom carry more than a passenger unless I'm dropping my sons friend off. Fwiw, I got a '92 bone stock with 92k miles, 4.0 5 speed for $3500

If not rust then its a winner....

But I learned to not trust folks about rust.

People from up north say no rust but what they really mean is that they have not fallen thru to the ground yet.
People from out west will say that it has surface rust and mean that the jeep is beyond mint and that rust they talking about is from a scratch in the paint and bird poopped on it...

Everyone is spot on about the rust issue. Looking at the pictures it looks like there is a lot of really fresh paint on the undercarriage. That to me is a red flag. Look the jeep over very very closely. You want to be sure that this paint isn't there to cover up rust or poor repairs.
I don't know prices in your part of the country, that price seems pretty cheap, again sometimes that is a red flag. Good Luck.

I wonder if he bought it.
