I'm relatively new to Jeep motors, so take this with a grain of salt....but I'm guessing it's the oil pressure sending unit. Could be completely wrong, but just thought I'd try my hand at this game.

Ok I thought I recognized the black part as being the oil pressure sensor but I thought I remembered that screwing directly into the block on my old engine (I have had to replace my engine with another one from an 87) So my question now is, is how it is pictured correct? What is the lower part that has filth all over it? It looks electrical but I swear my old set up had the black piece screwed directly into the block.

Don't know but I would say they are both oil pressure senders. Is it possible one for a gauge and one for a light I'm just guessing

The top black one I believe it will have a single wire which would be oil pressure sensor. The bottom (dirty) with two wires I think you will find to be an oil pressure switch. Don't know why one would need a pressure switch on a jeep. However I see them often working on heavy equipment.

LoL, you could be right but I wouldn't know. The little panel with all the warning lights and turn signal lights does not work. Figuring that out is next weeks project. By the way anyone know the proper term for the warning light panel (or is called warning light panel)? So I can start researching that.

Ivey gets the prize. Upper on is indeed pressure sender. Grounds through the block and sends a variable resistance signal to the gauge. Other one is a switch. Turns on dummy light.

Thank you all for your help. Now I just need to fix the panel with all my dummy lights.
