What is wrong with my jeep wrangler? (desperate)

I have a 1995 Jeep wrangler. 2.5L 4-Cly. automatic engine.
i got the engine rebuilt about a year ago and all Cly are firing correctly.
when i start it, it sounds like 1 of those old timey cars at amusement parks but if i give it gas i cant let off cuz it will instantly die. i have no idea what can be wrong with it. i was thinking a fuel pump problem but i dont have an external to test it. any and all serious suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Could be a number of things, but start simple. Check battery, other connections etc. it sounds like a throttle positions sensor might be the main issue.

Yes, lots of things could be at play. Make sure you have CLEAN and solid connections on all surfaces. And see if you can't test the TPS.

2.5L Genius of some sort.

I'm not sure what an old timey amusement car sounds like....
