Smile What lift and tires to get?

I'm looking to lift my YJ as well as some new tires. I want to go big. At least 35" tires maybe even 40". I use the Jeep for rocks and hills. I want ideas and recommendations. Post pics and tell me what you've got!
Thanks

go spring over with 33s locked front and rear you will go everywhere and it will still be very road worthy and very capable off road rig. mine is still sping under for right now but thats all I'm going to do so i don't have to worry about getting into axle breaking binds lol.

If looking for 35s, there are several companies that offer 4" lift kits and most have reviews as a sticky on the top of this forum page. If going bigger, I would consider a spring over like stated by ihijtswifl above. From what I have heard, a spring over is more work than a bolt on spring lift with both positive and negative points. The positive being better flex without so much spring lift, the negative being axle wrap and fabrication skills being required. There are several members on this site that have spring over and I am sure they will give pointers also. Good luck with the project.

If your wanting to go that big I suggest spring over with lift springs, and stretching your wheelbase. You could use xj lift springs in the rear along with the blue torch fab rear bumper with shacle mounts which will stretch your rear axle back about 7 inches. But top do this you will have to relocate your gas tank or get a fuel cell, which is what I would reccomend. As for the front just use some lift springs, or waggy springs which will give you a little stretch there. Since you got 40's on your mind I'm sure you've already thought about axles. Once you've got the lift and axles and comp cut in the rear all you need to do is steering which is quite simple, just a crossover steering setup. And some beefier tie rods and dragling, and you'll probably want a steering box brace. Then once all that's setup just get an sye and new driveshafts and your ready for some offroading in a bada** machine. O and I would reccomend atleast 5.13 gears.

Ya it'll put a pretty big dent in the wallet. I got the option to do that above or put a down payment on a 2010 rs/ss camaro. Its a hard one.

The Camaro is sweet, and your rig is also, 4" and 33s gets you most places.. If I could have both, I would.

If you have a garage and jack stands and basic tools, and know some one with a welder your ready to go. SOA is actually pretty simple its just the details, and labor that are the hard parts. Just do some research and I'm sure you'll learn a lot. I did. Or you just get a 4" with an sye and a 1" body lift and run 35's. But is this gonna be a dd or offroad toy?

Both, but mainly off-road toy. I use it to get to college (about sixty miles a week)
I want to go ahead and get as big I'll ever want. I don't want to get a lift and later want it bigger.

What's your email? I'll just send u the list for my build and u can go from there I designed my list aroun running 40's. Or you can just go coilover like my new plans. Rock krawler has an amazing 8" kit, if you've got the money I would suggest it also. Check it out at 4wd.com.
