What the F is that?

I was working on my 90 YJ 4.2 yesterday when I discovered a wire set coming from the alternator to a connector that was plugged into......NOTHING! just swinging in the breeze by the motor mount.
Thoughts?

I set the connector on the jack to get a better picture. If a more close up shot would help, let me know.

The more I read these forums the more I learn I need to fix on mine......
I'm missing the part of the plug that attaches to the steering hose but I have the wires and plug that plugs onto it.
Guess though no need for it since mine idles fine at stop and no issues turning.
