What to look for

New to the jeep scene and new to this site so I thought I would introduce myself over in this forum as well.
Live in Lubbock Tx and just bought an 88 Wrangler.
What I do for a living, I own a wrecking yard for the past 10 years and been in the business since 1989. Mariied and have 3 daughters.
Here is the details on the jeep.
6cyl, 5spd, hard top and doors as well as a bikini top.
PO installed a 2" suspension lift and 31x10.5x15 tires.
Jeep has 200k miles on it but runs fine.
Only problem, and the reason I bought it, is because the trans jumps out of reverse. Plan on pulling it this winter and having my transmission shop fix it.
Looks like the power steering pump/hoses/gear box is leaking but I will find out for sure once I get it on my lift.
The lights for the tach and speedo do not work but the guage lights do work.
Other than that it runs great and I am having a blast.
My question to ya'll is what other problems or issues should I look for or will come up in the future? Or just bassically any and all kinds of advice from ya'll would be greatly appreciated.
Monty

Well on the tranny issue... instead of rebuilding your ba10 5speed look for an ax15 from late 1990 to 1995 6cyl yj that trans is much much stronger and will last longer! I would try to find one from a 1995 yj with the slave cylinder on the outside of the bell housing (only year to have that type of slave cylinder location). With that being said if your slave ever goes out you don't have to drop the whole tranny to change it!

The lights for the tach and speedo may just be a fuse. What are your plans for this jeep?

Just drive it to work during the summer and let my F250 rest. Have fun with it on some trails around here but Lubbock is in the flat panhandle of Texas so I do not have areas like most of ya'll do. Have a place in Ruidoos NM that I want to take it to. So really nothing crazy. No rock climbing or anything like that because honestly, we just don't have anything like that around here

And most Jeeps leak something, but if there is no frame rust anything can be replaced on a jeep. Enjoy the new jeep hope to see you wheeling some time.
