They will work on your yj. Just gotta mount spring perches on the 30 and move the spring perches to the under side of the 35. Everything else should be bolt on. Just did that to my yj.

what would be a fair price then for the axles? I am going to regear anyway so i thought this would take care of 2 things at once?

Your YJ came stock with a Dana 30 in the front and a D35 in the rear. Same axles, except that the cherokee is SOA and the YJ is SUA, so you'll need to modify the perches. That being said, buying an ARB locker for just one axle (not including labor) will run around $1k. So with that in mind you're basically getting the locker at half price.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will get them, I priced regearing and just to regear its over 2k. I live in alaska so finding axles is very difficult. So I guess if all I have to do is weld new perches on both axles that would be fine. Any ideas on new perches?

I would ask if the rear axle shafts have been upgraded. If not that would be my on the top of the list with that locker in there.

yeah i was thinking of a soa.. but i just did a 2.5 in lift and i am very happy with that. And i dont really want to go bigger than 31's. Maybe 33's down the road. I like how the 31's drive versus the bigger tires. We have terrible ruts in our roads and big tires yank the jeep all over the place.

The guy said that they were rebuilt when lockers when in. His story is that they were on his cherokee that he sold so he took these off to build another one. Then moved to alaska and brought them with. Sounds like a decent story??
Is there any way to tell if they are arb lockers from the outside?

I say get 'em, but pull the cover and look inside first. Verify ratio, locker, condition.

Cool

If you plan on going with 33,s you would probably rather go with 4.56 ring and pinion . Also with 33,s and lockers if you do anything too harsh you can easily have an axle shaft fail on those small axles. Before you put too much in to those I would try to find a couple of beefier axles.I was going to do what you are considering but for a little bit more I poppod in a couple dana 44,s

Update: I went and looked at the axles... the guy didnt want to pull diff covers. So thats a automatic no buy. Not only did he not want to pull diff covers we had to use bobcat to unbury them from literally 8 foot of snow on top of them. They had been there for a year. So judging from the condition of everything at that guys place and how he stored his "valuable axles", i wouldnt buy anything from him.

So i guess i will get a ford 8.8. and just regear front.

Good call on not buying if he didn't let you inspect them. Too much money to take his word on everything.

If it's everything he said it was a pretty good deal, but letting you pull the covers should have been no problem. That or a written satisfaction guarantee, which I doubt he would go for either.

Popping the covers only takes a few min. If you have nothing to hide, why would you care?!! Like everyone else is saying, pass on it. You most likely saved yourself a major headache and some money.

Do you have any pics of your conversion? I will probably be getting a set of cj axles for my yj. I am curious how much work there is for the front axle to work. Seems simple enough though. The rear will be easy, just new perches and all. It's a d44 from an mj so I also don't know if I will have to fab up brake lines.
