Hello everyone -
I have a 1995 Wrangler YJ, 2.5L, No A/C. I'm having to replace the alternator and I need to know what the correct belt tension level/number should be for this vehicle? I'm picking up a belt tension gauge (Gates 91107 Belt Tension Tester) to get it accurate, but don't you have to know what the factory specified tension level number is before you can properly set your belt with a gauge?
Not that it's super important, but my particular '95 2.5L is one of the ones WITHOUT the tension pulley under the power-steering pump. Mine has the adjustment done through futzing around with the 5 bolts on the PS mounting bracket (1 on top front, 1 on bottom front (under the PS pulley), 2 on back, and the long adjustment bolt under the PS pulley, thereby moving the pump itself to relieve the belt tension.
Thanks for any help.
