Where is the Heat Sensor?

I have a 92YJ with a 2.5 engine. My heat guage doesn't register properly so I want to change it or at least make sure it is hooked up properly. It used to work right.....,,,

Have you checked the gauge itself to make sure its working? Power, connections clean etc? Not sure the location of the temp sensor, perhaps near the water pump area.
