Where to run a custom exhaust?

I am dropping a Chevy V8 in my Jeep this weekend and I have Hugger Headers that point straight down right now. My question is where should I have my duels run so that they won't get ripped off the first time I go off-road?

Anyone have duels?

Any pics?

Right inside the frame rails and you can dump it right out of the muffler...just a sec and I'll see if I can get you a pic.

Ok can't find the pic's I was looking for. But run a 90* off the bottom of the header and run your pipes straight back. Dont put them against the frame...."you have fuel lines and such running down your frame." but they can run about 6'' away from it .

Also, Do you have vehicle inspections where you are at? Most all state laws require you to run cats on any vehicle produced after 1979, and if you run them as true duels you'll need 2 cats.

Let us know what you decide.

Well fortunately Maryland gives you the opportunity to put "Historic" tags on anything over 20 years old, so therefore I won't have to get any emissions tests done and I found an exhaust shop that will run them straight from the headers to Flowmasters and out!

It will be one of the next things on my list for sure. I am hoping everything goes fairly smooth with the swap as I have been collecting all the parts and pieces I could think of for the past few weeks.!!!

hey, i'd like to jump in on this thread as well...some pics of your process would be great, if you got a digital cam. im doing the same thing this winter. i have collected everything i need eccept for the drive shafts. im running a 350sb/TH400(i swapped out the output shaft of the 400 w/ a custom shaft with a TH350 spline count to match the T-case)np241/but im going to run "Y" pipes instead of duals...one cat, one muffler. im doing it simple w/ HEI ignition no EGR. So any pics on your swap would be great. I'm going to document it as well but it would be great if you kept us posted on any hang ups or whatever. THANKS!~
