I have been following the recent threads on 4X4 issues. I recently lost the 4WD on my 88 yj and will look over the vaccum system when I can get time. I can easily see my self changing to a posi-lok.
Any comments on which supplier's posi-lok to use would be appreciated?
There is a post called, Home made Posi Lock write up, that shows how to modify what you have. Do a search to find it.
This site has the cheapest manufactured setup I could find. But I could not find a fork on there. BDS 4X4 POSI-LOCK 4WD ENGAGEMENT SYSTEMS from In Stock Catalog
Hope that helps.
Check with NAVY CHIEF. He did this with a piece of garden hose, and he seems happy to share his success. In the other thread about loss of 4x4, it was posited that changing the vacuum D30 to a locked hub setup creates significant bearing wear. I asked in there, given the popularity of this mod as the vacuum system regularly fails after a time, is there any veracity to the wear and tear claim?
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
