Question Which rear end do I have???

sup guys,

So I am running on 35's and I am still able to hit 85 on 4th gear. maybe 90 going down hill. No one is believing me since i say I have an oem rear end. So now that I am starting to question what I have, HOW do I find out.

Your Gear ratio should be stamped on a tag at the 9 o'clock position
You can see on what would be the bottom left side of the tag that I have 4:11's

What engine do you have? Important that you check your gear ratios, I'd imagine someone upgraded the gears if you can do 85, because otherwise you are lying through your teeth. Not even a V8 Jeep can pull 85 with 35's on the wrong gearing, there's just WAY too much air resistance with the tires and the Jeep being shaped like an oak tree with a parachute- drag.

If you are going 85 in 4th, your speedometer must be off.

Im on 33's and can do it, but my motor is almost redlined, so I dont do it.
Id shift to 5th, but even downhill with a tailwind i dont have the power to hold speed.

Oh, I do have the 4:11 rear Dana 35...

Sounds like you need a new GPS... The 4 banger isn't pushing ANYTHING to 85 on 35" tires.

And a third notion. I love my 4 cylinder, i stand up for it time and time again...

But there is NO fing way you are rolling 85mph down the road with 35" tires and a 4 cylinder. That is the end of it, your GPS is VERY off. You would have to be rolling down a 45* slope with a 200mph tail wind to hit 85mph with such a setup.

I have a 94 YJ with the 2.5 and am getting ready to re-gear to 4.88, I can barely get to 55-60 with 33s, and I'm at 5,000rpm or more. Short of a rocket booster there is no way I could touch 85, or 65.

Wouldn't hit 85 dropped out of a C-130 unless it was above 30,000 feet when they kicked it out. But what ever it is you are smoking you should put it down and step away.

You know, the roll bar would make a convenient mounting rack for a few slow-burn class N's...

I have maxed my Jeep at 80 to 85 MPH. Not totally sure because I am running 32's and my speedo is off by about 5 MPH,, with that being said I have the I6 and I am running 3.73...i think? Took me a while and about 2 miles worth of pavement to make it there lol.

This actually got me to do a little research on non-differential GPS speed detection. Apparently its highly accurate. Even studies under degraded sat connectivity.

I'm still curious on your gps brand?!
