Winch Recommendations

Wanting to get advice and recommendations on winches. I like the reviews on Warn and I know they are good. Just wondering how other, less expensive, brands hold up? Specifically Smittybilt and Quadratec brands. Looking at 8000-10,000lb range. Thanks for the help.

On my yj I have a warn xd9000i 9000lb winch and it is awesome I will never put another winch on my jeeps I've pulled anything from waterlogged trees out of a riverbed to a half ton chevy sideways out of a tree warn is simply the best you can get and I'm not sure many others would disagree with me on that

I know I wouldn't I have the Warn M8000 and I'm very pleased with how it has held up

I have an Engo 9000. It has held up pretty well. I do like Warn though as well. But if you are looking at less expensive brands, Engo is a good value.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked at some reviews on Engo and they were pretty good and MUCH cheaper than Warn.

+1 for Engo. I don't have one yet, but all of the guys I wheel with do. When I do buy a winch, it'll be an Engo.

Harbor freight is having a big sale this weekend. I have read great reviews on the 12000 lb winch. Kinda overkill for a yj...but it is only $299 this weekend.

Yes.

General rule of thumb it's go twice the weight of your rig.

I picked up a 12000lb badlands winch from harbor freight today for $299. It was regularly $499. The 9000lb winch was $279. I figured spend $20 more for an extra 3000lbs. It won't be mounted for a while. But it looks great. The online user reviews were very good.
