Iwent with the MileMarker sec8 i have had more expensive winchea in the past, but i like the one i got. to me it was the best for the money, for what type of wheeling i do. Jeepaddons.com can hook you up witu free shipping on the same thing, or the Engo9k for less than 300 bucks.

I have an XRC8 smittybilt 8,000lb winch. Good starter winch for moderate use. I paid $330 including shipping and a free winch cover. It's my first winch and I'm happy with it!

I just read an interesting article / review on winches. Weight is a concern. Rope is stronger and safer. here's the link. Tug of War: The Ultimate 12v Winch Test

8,000 lbs is what I would recommend, and you can never go wrong with a Ramsey winch.

i bought a 4500lb winch from harbor freight. it works for everything i have ever used it for. everyone always said to get an 8k one but we don;t have 4x4ing where i live so the most i use it for is pulling stupid people out of hte ditch on my street when they back into it or ride to close to the edge and their wheels go in.
